Licensing
Online vs. offline licenses, activation, and grace periods.
Paid tiers (Pro, Team, Enterprise) are gated by a license. TRCAA supports two independent ways to hold one — pick whichever fits how your machine connects to the network.
Online license
A license key activated against our self-hosted licensing server. Requires network access to activate, and periodically revalidates in the background — but tolerates outages gracefully.
What you get
- Activate on a machine, deactivate to move seats
- Entitlements update automatically as your plan changes
- All future version updates for as long as you're subscribed
Offline license
A signed license file (.lic) imported once. Verified entirely locally via Ed25519 signature — no network access required, ever, after import. Built for air-gapped machines: SCIF environments, isolated public-safety networks, or anywhere outbound connectivity simply isn't available.
This is the license type behind the Perpetual option on Pro: a one-time purchase, install once, keep working offline forever — at the cost of not receiving future version updates the way a subscription does.
Choosing between them
| Question | Online | Offline |
|---|---|---|
| Needs network to run? | Only for periodic revalidation | Never |
| Billing model | Subscription (annual) | One-time (perpetual) |
| Future version updates | Included while subscribed | Not included |
| Best for | Most individual and team use | Air-gapped / critical infra |
